Staff at Andover War Memorial Hospital’s Kingfisher Ward reached out to the local community to bring some festive cheer for the patients this Christmas.
Due to Covid-19, Andover Hospital were not permitted to have Christmas decorations inside the hospital this year. This news came as a disappointment to many staff and they reached out on Facebook, asking the local community for any donations to “help cheer up the patients this time of year”
It wasn’t long before Georgie’s Florist in Reading donated a beautiful tree for outside of the ward, in true community style the crew at Andover Fire Station rallied round to help secure the tree for the ward.
Local estate agents Your Move also heard the news and joined forces to donate a further tree and decorations for outside the Hospital, bringing some festive spirit to Andover’s local hospital.

Vicky Miles from the communications team told Andover Radio, “Unfortunately this Christmas has to be a little different at our hospitals. In order to uphold our high standards of infection prevention and control practices that keep all of our patients and staff safe, we have had to look at other ways to share the Christmas spirit as COVID-19 continues to change how we work.
“We are so grateful for all of the support we have received from the local community, the donations of Christmas decorations and even a Christmas tree outside the Andover War Memorial Hospital. We also want to say a huge thank you to Andover Fire Station for their help in safely securing the Christmas tree! It will go a long way to keep some festive cheer going through what is a difficult time.”
