The closing date to get your views on the Andover Masterplan is this Sunday.
An online survey will take less than five minutes to complete and views will go toward shaping how our town centre looks and feels for the future.
Urban design company Hemingway Design have been appointed by Test Valley Borough Council to will draw together feedback from residents and businesses to create feasibility studies and other key statistics to create a Masterplan for the town.
2,100 people have already completed the quick online survey, but more views are wanted.
The results of this survey will act as a blueprint to completely redevelop the area. The Masterplan process will take around 12 months to complete and will involve much consultation with residents to decide what the future of Andover will look like.
Talking to 95.9FM Andover Radio, Wayne Hemingway from Hemingway Design said that the number of people who want change in Andover is higher than they would normally expect, “We would have anticipated 15-20% of people saying ‘dont touch it’, but we have had only been 2 people so far, from 2,100 who have said ‘it’s fine as it is’.
“That is a pretty comprehensive figure, so our next job is to analyse what people are saying, look at the ideas people have and do some planning.”
In a very open and honest conversation, Mr Hemingway added, “We’ve got to do something amongst ourselves and we are people who know about these things, then we need to do some design and ‘play it back’ to everybody and for them to say ‘yeah, you’re on the right track’ or not.
“We need to see what they have to say and nothing is a fait accomplis at this stage, we are listening, then we will respond and then we will listen again.”
The message from Test Valley Borough Council and the organisations involved is that this is your chance to help carve the future of the town.
