Less than two weeks left to register as a voter

Referendum voting Goodworth Clatford

With just under two weeks to go until the deadline to register to vote in the local elections this May, Test Valley Borough Council is urging residents to make sure they are registered.

On Thursday May 2nd, voters will head to the polls to elect their borough ward councillors and, where contested, their parish councillors (town council) for the next four years.

The deadline to register to vote is midnight on Friday April 12.

Test Valley Borough Council advise, “If you are already registered to vote, you do not need to re-register. Anyone not registered to vote at their current address can register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.”

“If you will be unable to cast your vote in person on May 2, you can apply for a postal or proxy vote.”

Voting by post is an easy and convenient alternative to voting in person. The deadline to apply to vote by post for these elections is 5pm on April 15.

Proxy voting allows you to nominate someone else to cast your vote for you. The deadline to apply to vote by proxy at these elections is 5pm on April 24.

Applications for postal or proxy voting can be requested by contacting Electoral Services at Test Valley Borough Council on 01264 368000, or downloaded at www.testvalley.gov.uk/Elections2019.
