Let’s Celebrate National Allotments Week

This year the National Allotment Society is Plotting for the Future and celebrating the contribution that allotments make to a sustainable future, by being economical with resources, caring for the land and supporting a balanced eco-system.

Our friends at Rooting for Andover have put together some children’s gardening activities for us all to enjoy.

Leading  campaigner for community gardens in Andover, Michael Parker, has set a target to raise £500 for Andover community gardens. Funds will be used for seeds, compost,  tools, raised planting beds and help towards a polytunnel. More details of the virtual walk can be found here

Andover Town Council owns and manages 500 allotment plots on 7 sites. Plots are rented from Andover Town Council. Having an allotment can offer some of the following benefits:

  • – Personal control of chemical use
  • – Protecting the environment
  • – Fun for all the family
