Looking for things to do this May Half Term? The Lights have got you covered

Stinky Beards, The BFG and a Fantastic Mr Fox. What do they all have in common? Kids love the classic stories, and they’ll love the workshops being presented by local storyteller Amanda from Merry Go Round Storytelling.

Kids of all ages are invited to take part in multiple workshops across the May half term week and there is so much to do! Whether it’s The Twits Stinky Beard Workshop where the kids will craft their very own Mr Twit Beard to take home with them.

They’ll add revolting stuff to their beards from minute one, whilst Amanda keeps the kids on track with her stunning storytelling! The team at The Lights have even had a go at creating their own beards in the lead up to the event! Look out for Ricky the technicians disgusting Mr Twit beard on their Facebook page! This workshop is on Wednesday, 31 May at 10:30am and is for ages 4+.

The next workshop is fantastic! In fact, it’s the Fantastic Mr Fox Puppet Making Session, where similarly to the Stinky Beard workshop, all materials will be included, and children will take their creations home with them. Mr Fox is kind, clever and fearless! And the kids will be encouraged to be fearless with their creations. Again, Amanda will be talking to the kiddos about the story of Fantastic Mr Fox as they create! This workshop is on Wednesday the 31st of May at 1:30pm.

The whole week of Roald Dahl inspired workshops will culminate in The Lights arena, with The Big Friendly Gigantic Picnic Party! The arena will be transformed into a whizz-popping world of imagination, jam-packed with marvellous music and storytelling from Amanda. This picnic is indoors, so whatever the weather, this will go ahead! Don’t forget your scrumdiddlyumpcious picnics, and blankets if you’d like! The Lights has plenty of soft seating in their arena space, and all the family of all ages are invited to share the experience together. Picnics, stories, magical displays, and great coffee and cake for parents and guardians at The Atrium Café at The Lights, what’s not to love about this half-term event for the whole family on Friday, 1 June at 11:30am!

Those looking to book can do so by calling The Lights Box Office on 01264 368368 or alternatively in person, The Lights, West Street, Andover, SP10 1AH. Or online at thelights.org.uk/whatson should they wish.
