Andover’s Mencap charity have confirmed multiple cases of Covid-19.
Andover and District Mencap demanded that their staff do not communicate directly with the media as they confirmed SEVEN cases of the virus within their organisation.
The Winchester Road charity confirmed that SIX members of staff had tested positive for coronavirus, with one ‘service user’ also testing positive.
Love Andover has asked for confirmation as to when the charity were aware of the first case and what measures, if any, were put in place to prevent its spread.
A response from the charity CEO Helen Walker reads:
“Andover and District Mencap currently has 6 staff members of staff and 1 service user who have tested positive for Covid-19.
“We have been liaising with the local Public Health Team and informing relevant authorities whilst following all necessary guidance and actions.
“We have had to make the decision to close our Children’s Respite Service, Rainbow Corner, for a short period of time but will be returning to our normal service provision once staffing levels allow this to be done safely.”
