Online Lockdown Support for Parents

Following the government’s national lockdown announcement, child mental health and behaviour expert Richard Daniel Curtis, also known as the Kid Calmer, has announced the return of his multi-award winning online support sessions for parents.

The announcement was met with frustration from parents and carers as they once again have to deal with childcare, home schooling and juggling work demands.

During the summer of 2020 and the first lockdown, former teacher, Richard, broadcasted live videos covering topics raised by parents, such as:

  • managing home working
  • dealing with rudeness
  • social skills
  • children interrupting work calls
  • tantrums
  • tiredness and fatigue
  • diet and fussy eating

Richard, who was recently one of three experts brought in by the Department for Education to write the curriculum guidance on mental health for every school and college in England, has two children himself – a 4 year old and a 2 year.

His sessions over the previous national lockdown were watched by thousands of stressed and concerned parents and earned two awards – the Children’s Mental Health Programme of the Year 2020 in the GHP Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Awards and Parent Advisor of the Year at the 2020 Prestige Awards.

Richard says, “Parents have done this before and they can do it again, this time with the experience of last time. I am proud to play a small part in supporting parents, carers and their children to be resilient to the wellbeing impact of the pandemic lockdowns.

The Parent Wellbeing Sessions will be broadcast live on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9pm, or available for catch up. www.facebook.com/thekidcalmer or www.youtube.com/thekidcalmer
