PRECAUTION: Andover Leisure Centre

Andover Leisure Centre has been evacuated.

We attended the Leisure Centre at 1:00pm today as customers were being asked to leave. We understand that someone briefly attended the centre yesterday who has since tested positive for coronavirus.

We believe that person was collecting a Centre user, rather than using the centre themselves.

We are awaiting to hear from Centre management, but this is a precaution.

Andover Leisure Centre have acted on the advice of Public Health England and the Centre will be undergoing a deep clean over the next 24 hours.

The official message from Andover Leisure Centre is:

“Following a report from an individual who briefly attended Andover Leisure Centre yesterday afternoon to collect someone , they have subsequently been positively diagnosed with the Coronavirus.

On the advice of Public Health England the centre is being closed as a precautionary measure for a deep clean. It is expected that the centre will close for a minimum of 24 hours.

The total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK is now 273, a rise of 67, the biggest in a 24-hour period.

More than 23,500 people have been tested for the virus according to the Department of Health and Social Care.
