Staff at an Andover care home dressed up in fancy dress to celebrate Macmillan’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 30th September – and it was the residents who were put in charge of the judging!
There was plenty of coffee and homemade cake available at Millway House in Weyhill as the staff dressed up in a selection of clothes from charity shops as well as a more exotic Nepalese traditional costume and a particularly striking banana outfit.
Residents handed out awards for the ‘Worst Dressed’ and ‘Ugliest Outfit’ and Claire Lousteau, Home Manager at Millway House, said: “Our residents loved seeing the staff dressed up, and it was great fun to see their faces when they caught sight of our Sarah dressed as a banana!
“Thanks go to our wonderful activities team, that extended a fundraising morning into a fun-packed day of activities.”
Staff also brought in some of their homemade bakes on the day for a fundraising cake auction. A Great British Bake Off-worthy Jaffa Cake bake secured an impressive bid for Macmillan, and, along with donations from the rest of the team, £102 was raised for the cancer support charity.
Claire added: “We always like to support Macmillan’s coffee morning fundraiser, and I’m thrilled we can pass on some vital funds to this incredible charity again this year.”
Millway House is part of Sears Healthcare and CEO Richard Adams was thrilled to hear about the fun-packed day the Millway team arranged for their care home residents.
He said: “At Millway House, we are a nurse-led care home, so our approach focuses on providing a home-from-home for our residents while we meet their healthcare needs. It was lovely to hear how much fun everyone had last Friday and thanks go to the team who organised a great day of entertainment.”
Situated on the outskirts of Weyhill near Andover, Millway House offers excellent accommodation for nursing, dementia and end of life care.
