Ten pupils from Wellington Lions and Eagles attended an Anti-Bullying Ambassador Programme. The programme is hosted by The Diana Award.
On Tuesday 21st February five pupils from Wellington Lions and five pupils from Wellington Eagles visited The Castle School, Bristol to attend a Anti-Bullying Training Programme run by The Diana Award. The programme officiates them as the school’s Anti-Bullying Ambassador.
The day consisted of sessions on explaining to the children what could be classed as bullying behaviour. Session three based around how as an ambassador they can develop their Anti-Bullying work, alongside campaign planning and the next steps in their newly appointed roles.
The training looked at bullying in different situations including face-to-face and online. At the end of the day, pupils made an action plan of how to approach bullying issues that may arise in their schools and committed to their roles as Anti-Bullying Ambassadors. As part of the newly appointed role, the Ambassadors will host Anti-Bullying campaigns. As part of their role the pupils will be able to educate their peers on understanding bullying and hopefully pass on their knowledge to eliminate bullying.
The Diana Award’s free Anti-Bullying Ambassador Programme which is available to schools across the UK, sees trainers working with students and other young people to change the attitude surrounding bullying. The programme has a strong peer-to-peer focus, with trainers giving young people the skills and confidence to become Anti-Bullying Ambassadors to tackle bullying in their schools long after the training has finished. The Diana Award’s anti-bullying work is recognised as world-class thanks to this sustainable approach.
The Diana Award’s Anti Bullying Programme raises awareness of bullying behaviour and supports schools and young people to tackle it. The Diana Award was founded in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, from her belief that young people have the power to make a massive impact on their community, their country and their world. HRH The Duke of Cambridge supports events for the Diana Award alongside the staff.

Bullying is an issue in every school and the hope that enrolling pupils in to help tackle and exchange their skills to help tackle bullying.
