The Winning Family of InAndover’s Nutcracker Trail announced.

Andover family Katie, Alex, Leo, and Blake Fielder are announced as the winners of InAndover’s Nutcracker Trail, a fun family event that ran in Andover Town throughout December.

Young Blake said “It was great fun, and we went all around the town and visited all of the businesses, some we didn’t even know where they were. We discovered Alex McGarry Studio in Shaws Walk and I loved Burgos Pet World. The parrot spoke to me, and the guinea pigs were great. I didn’t think for one moment that we would win but we did, and we are going to have a waffle at Canto Gelato and then down to Frango Grill to buy a chicken meal with one of the vouchers.”

Families were encouraged to enter the trail and to follow clues. They were able to collect one of 10,000 competition booklets distributed around town or to download online. The trail was completed by hundreds of people including many families and they were encouraged to visit the town-centre and locate the ten nutcrackers placed in participating businesses around the town.

To take part, participants answered each clue found in the specific businesses around the town, and when all clues were found, the entry forms were dropped off at the library or submitted online. The prize was to the value of £300 in £25 vouchers donated by participating businesses and to be spent in the town and the winner was chosen by a randomizer. Steve Godwin, BID Manager said – “We support businesses in the town centre and try to produce interesting initiatives that highlight the diversity and range of the many established and new retailers we are fortunate to have. We have encouraged people and particularly families to enter and do activities together and have fun.

The Nutcracker trail ran throughout December and until 6th Jan was an amazing success with hundreds of people competing and returning their completed entries to our collecting point in the library or sending them in online. It achieved our aim which was to promote and highlight Andover as a town centre and drive custom to local businesses, and we have many more activities planned this year.”
