Virtual sessions on creative expression

As part of Children’s Mental Health week, Places to be BAFTA Kids and Oak National Academy, have created a series of free virtual sessions led by experts and familiar faces across acting, art, content creation, dance and writing. 

The “I Express Myself Through…” series sees stars such as Oti Mabuse and Bukky Bakray discuss how they creatively express themselves, and share their tips and advice for children and young people. These videos are aimed at older primary school pupils, and secondary / high school pupils.

The sessions cover the following subjects,;

Art

This virtual session features Hannah Brooks (Aardman), Annabelle Davis (The Dumping Ground), Oli Hyatt (Blue Zoo Studios) and Ayo Norman-Williams, with an activity idea from Place2Be’s Art Room team.

Dance

This virtual session features Oti Mabuse, JJ Chalmers and choreographer Christina Andrea, with an activity idea from one of Oak National Academy’s dance teachers.

Creating Content

This virtual session features Nikki Lilly, Luke Franks, director Jermain Julien and comedian Inel Tomlinson, with an activity idea from BAFTA Young Presenter Braydon Bent.

Writing

This virtual session features Shaun Duggan (Jamie Johnson), Sharna Jackson (High Rise Mystery), James Lamont (The Adventures of Paddington) and Holly Phillips (Get Even), with an activity idea from one of Oak National Academy’s English teachers.

Acting

This virtual session features Bukky Bukray (Rocks), Kia Pegg (The Dumping Ground), Patrick Ward (Jamie Johnson) and Tom Clarke-Hill (Robozuna), with an activity idea from one of Oak National Academy’s drama teachers.
