A Brand New Youth Pub in Andover

There have been many reports of anti-social behaviour being carried out by youths in the town centre and one of the most common responses from locals was to question what else there was for them to do and where else could they go.

It was this thought that prompted 5 local residents to meet recently to discuss a possible option. The Queen Charlotte (London Road, SP10 2PR) has very kindly offered to open up as a “Youth Pub” for the evening on Wednesday 15th September from 6:30pm until 9pm, the top bar will be open to ages 15-17 for soft drinks only and they will have access to the pool tables and dartboards.

For years adults have had the public house as an option of somewhere to go with friends (or to make new ones). This idea will give young people who aren’t quite old enough the opportunity to have somewhere to go and be treated as the responsible adults that many nearly are.

This initiative is neither a Test Valley or Andover Town Council scheme, but the result of 5 residents getting their heads together to try to help the larger community. If the night runs without issue, it may become a regular occurrence and may even spread to other pubs in the area, but for now, We offer thanks to all involved for helping make this happen and wish the idea every success.
