Amazing Festival Fun with Food, Wine and Live Music

A 3 day festival has been enjoyed by thousands this weekend at Winchester’s first ever visit from the Foodie Festival. The UK’s biggest food festival took place just down the road to us here in Andover at the North Walls Recreations Ground in Winchester on the 16, 17, 18 July 2021.

We were lucky enough to be invited along as VIP guest to this event to enjoy the whole weekend with them. We had an amazing time and saw lots of Andover faces throughout the weekend who also were making the most of all that was on offer and soaking up sun and enjoying the family friendly festival vibes.

There were lots of different stalls offering a wide range of food and drink goodies, with lots of free samples to be tried and tasted throughout the weekend.

There were 3 main tents which ran talks from foodies and wine experts throughout the weekend.

The Chefs Theatre

This is where you could watch MasterChef Champions, Michelin star and top local chefs cooking their signature summer recipes sharing with us their top tips. The line up included GBBO Finalist 2020 Dave Friday, MasterChef Champion 2020 Thomas Frake, MasterChef: The Professionals Champion 2020 Alex Webb, MasterChef Champion 2016 Jane Devonshire.

They ended the weekend in the Chefs Theatre with a chilli eating competition which anyone could enter, whilst resulted in some comical viewing.

Cakes and Desserts Theatre

Here is where the cakes where made , the tents host was Charlotte White who made everyone feel welcome, she warned us all she was a feeder so no one was allowed to leave the tent without trying the cakes that had been made by the expert bakers. They shared their best baking hints and tips live on stage with us all.

The Drinks Theatre

Here we sampled new wines, champagnes and cocktails. Whilst experts talked us through the importance of a grape and how different types of wine are made. Matt Dixon, wine expert from Waitrose told us, “Wine is an awesome product and can even be enjoyed with Fish and chips”

Kids corner

There was an area just for kids provided this weekend, with funfair rides, bouncy castles, a food caravan “just for kids”, which offered kid sized meal favourites such as macaroni cheese and spaghetti-bolognese. Here you could also find The Kids Cookery Theatre run by SuperChefs where children created recipes with a Teddy Bear Picnic theme.

Live Music

No Festival would be complete without some live music , this was played by various musicians throughout the weekend. The Main headliner act for the weekend was Scouting for Girls. After a year of no live music this created an amazing atmosphere to be in.

The atmosphere was fantastic as people gathered together to dance and enjoy the music played. Taking to different people throughout the weekend, it was clear that this is what people have missed, during lockdown.

Were you one of the Andover Families that went along and enjoyed this festival ?. We would love to see your photos and hear of you favourite parts of the weekend as well, send us an email to familylife@loveandover.com

If you missed this weekend, the next time they are nearby to us is in September when they are spending the weekend in Kings Park in Bournemouth. More details can be found on their website here
