Andover carnival support local school

Icknield School is based in River Way, Andover and is a Special School for children and young people aged 3-19 with severe learning difficulties.  One of the schools top priorities is to provide a happy, safe and exciting learning environment for the children.  They are justifiably proud of their vibrant, friendly school where all the staff and governors work together to provide the best possible learning opportunities for the children in their care.  They are also proud of the fact that they were judged to be “Outstanding” by Ofsted.

Funds raised by the Carnival will go towards purchasing a new standing frame for use in the school.  Regular use of standing frames for students who are unable to walk carries many advantages.  They enable the student to stand up straight which aids posture, weight bearing opportunities and muscle tone. They also aid digestion and give the student the chance to be upright (rather than sit in a wheelchair) thereby being “as tall” as their peer group friends.

A new standing frame costs around £3000 but with regular maintenance can be used for several years so we would love to raise as much as we can to help with the purchase of this frame for this amazing school so please DIG DEEP on the day!
