Andover College students to showcase Aladdin at The Lights

Following on from the success of last year’s pantomime, Cinderella.  Andover College’s Performing Arts department will be showcasing their talents at this year’s performance of Aladdin which will be performed at The Lights, Andover on Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 December at 7pm.

The annual pantomime is an event all those at the college look forward to each year. Students have been intensively rehearsing for the performance which brings many of the college’s departments together to work on the show. The Performing Arts, Music and Dance students have been working together on various parts of the performance and Stage Management students have overseen controlling the set design, lighting and sound for each of the shows.

State Management Lecturer, Drama & Music Technician Dan Huckle said: “This is my first time directing the annual panto here at Andover College and it has been an absolute pleasure! As someone who has professionally performed and still currently working within the production industry, I have been able to combine my love of both aspects with the support of the students and my fellow members of staff.

The tradition of doing pantomimes at Andover College originated when I was a student here where I performed as the Sherriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood and the Babes of the Wood.  I have always loved either watching, acting or being a part of a pantomime so it is my privilege to be able to direct our 2023 panto of Aladdin.

So far, this experience has been a wonderful process and worth being able to work so creatively with all, actors, production and dance students. To watch all the students, grow to the professional level that they are at today is an amazing opportunity in our 1803 theatre and performing in the Lights! We hope you enjoy our production and look forward to our Musical in May”.
