Increased quiz donation to James’s Place

Ben Tuffin James Place Quiz Andover Radio

Pub teams are a great way to raise money for charity.

The monthly quiz at the White Hart Inn in Penton Mewsey tonight (Sunday 12th January 2019) raised almost £250 for James’s Place, also in Penton.

Hosted by Andover Radio’s Ben Tuffin (see photo, below) the quiz raised some money from team entry fees, however 95.9FM Andover Radio agreed to double the amount if more people gave pocket change to the local charity’s cause.

Pub manager Michaela Pollard was then busy collecting coins from the amassed customers and thanks to Andover Radio’s ‘double up’ commitment, the quiz at the White Hart Inn will donate £246 to their cause.

James’s Place is an independent day care centre centre based at Penton Park and helps to develop life skills for less-abled people from the Andover area.

James’s Place provides a safe space for people of any ability, encouraging and facilitating interaction and engagement with the community.

Landlady Victoria Harber said, “It’s always a great atmosphere at our quizzes and we are so pleased to support Guy, his team and their exceptional work at Penton Park.

Andover Radio will be hosting the ‘Big Loud Shouty-Out Quiz’ at the Queen Charlotte Inn on Friday 31st January from 8pm. The quiz event will be followed by Karaoke, hosted by the radio station’s Kevin Ridgeon.

“It’s a quiz like no other”, says host David Harber from Andover Radio. “There’s no entry fee, we don’t accept teams and absolutely anyone could win a prize.”

The ‘Big Loud Shouty-Out Quiz’ at the Queen Charlotte Inn on London Road raises money for the QC Foundation which raises money for people in Andover who suffer or are affected by chronic and terminal illnesses.
