Picket Piece Village Hall Set for Exciting Expansion

Picket Piece Village is buzzing with anticipation as Test Valley Borough Council gives the green light to a £245,000 funding package for the extension of Picket Piece Village Hall. This collaborative effort between the Village Hall Committee and TVBC Councillors signifies a momentous leap forward for the community.

Since its establishment in 1985, the village hall has stood as a cornerstone of community life in Picket Piece. However, with the population burgeoning to approximately 1,000 homes and further growth on the horizon, the need for an upgrade has become evident. After years of meticulous planning and dedicated effort, the community is poised to embark on a transformative journey.

The planned enhancements include:

  • Extension to the Rear: Expanding the footprint of the hall to accommodate the growing needs of the community.
  • Kitchen and Toilet Upgrades: Including the installation of a dedicated disabled WC, ensuring accessibility for all.
  • New Bar Area: Enhancing social spaces within the hall for community gatherings and events.
  • Complete Flooring Overhaul: Refurbishing the dance floor and ensuring the longevity of the hall’s infrastructure.
  • Sound Insulation: Improving acoustics for events and activities held within the hall.
  • Air Source Pump Installation: Enhancing energy efficiency and sustainability.
  • Solar Panels: Harnessing renewable energy to reduce the hall’s carbon footprint.
  • Improved Pathway and Lighting: Creating a safer and more inviting access route from Walworth Road to Locksbridge Park.
  • Expansion of Parking Facilities: Nearly tripling the existing parking spaces with the addition of a new car park at the rear of the hall.

Simon Potter, Hall Trustee and Sports & Social Club Chairman, expressed his delight at the prospect of the project: “After years of effort, we’re thrilled to kick off this project and bring enhanced facilities to Picket Piece!”

Andover Downlands Councillor, Nick Lodge, echoed this sentiment, stating, “It’s been a pleasure collaborating with the community and TVBC to secure this vital funding. Our growing village deserves top-notch amenities, and this upgrade will make the hall a true hub for everyone.”

With plans in motion and anticipation building, Picket Piece Village is set to undergo an exciting transformation. Residents are encouraged to stay tuned for updates as the community embarks on this journey together.
