Andover Festival of Motoring roars into town

Andover Festival of Motoring: September 24th 2017

Andover Town Centre will once again be awash with chrome, steel and alloy wheels on Sunday 24th September as the popular Festival of Motoring returns to rev up the atmosphere on the High Street.

The event is likely to be the swansong of outgoing town centre managers, the Andover Town Centre Partnership.

The free family event is now in its third year and is looking to be bigger and better than ever before.

Town Centre Manager Gemma Thompson says, “We’ve had a great response from local motoring enthusiasts and have an impressive line up of over 100 classic, sports, modified and vintage vehicles booked to line the High Street and wow the crowds.

There will be children’s entertainment, face painting and motoring related craft activities from The Art Room.”

The event will also feature a competition to be crowned a category winner or overall ‘Best in Show’. It’s expected that competition will be fierce, with the Worshipful Mayor of Test Valley Cllr Carl Borg-Neal having the difficult task of judging the entrants.

The winner of ‘Best in Show’ will be presented with the 2017 Trophy and will receive a Porsche Cayman Experience donated by Thruxton Racing.

The Andover Town Centre Partnership was funded by all three local councils in an effort to increase footfall to the town. It is due to be replaced imminently by CMS Consultants from Ipswich who have won a council tender to manage Andover’s town centre until the middle of next year.

The Andover Festival of Motoring takes place from 10am to 3pm and is a free event with any donations received going to support the Andover Rotary Club.
