Andover man flees crash scene to ‘protect no claims bonus’

Basingstoke Magistrates - Judge with gavel

An Andover man fled a crash scene as he “didn’t want to lose his no claims bonus”.

41-year-old Darren Knapp of Galahad Close drove into the back of a family’s car while arguing with his wife then fled the scene. He told Salisbury Magistrates Court on Friday that he “didn’t want to lose his no claims bonus”.

Knapp crashed into the back of a car containing two children “at such force that bits of the vehicle were left behind”.
