Andover’s first Winter Wonderland is this Sunday – here is what you can look forward to

The High Street and Town Mills Riverside Park will see this Sunday 4th December, from 12pm noon until 9pm, the very first Winter Wonderland to set foot in the town, with a multitude of things to do, eat, drink, make and see for everyone throughout the day.

Food and drink will be a major part of the event, as the event is set to bring mac and cheese, burgers, hot dogs, donuts, waffles, crepes, hot chocolate, mulled wine, chestnuts and far more, across the two sites.

There will be two stages at the event, with a stage manned by Andover Radio & Love Andover in front of the Guildhall on the High Street, and a stage managed by BSM Stage Tec in the Pocket Park of the Riverside Park, with the likes of the Andover Rock Choir, Mad Melodies, Bethany Smith, Test Valley Brass, Andover Town Band and Lani Clayton set to perform.

“We are very excited to bring yet another event to the town this festive season – there will be a plethora of things that Andover will be able to do and take part in throughout the day.” Dmitrijs Meiksans, co-organiser of the event, said.

A key staple of the event will also be the Lantern Parade, organised by Our Andover CIC, as the CIC have been urging members of the public to watch video tutorials as made by local arts group The Artroom, make lanterns and take part in the parade which will be gathering in St Mary’s Church at 5pm on the day.

“If you are unable to make lanterns at home, then we will have workshops on the High Street from noon until 5pm where you will be able to purchase a lantern making kit and decorate it whoever you deem fit!” David Coole, another co-organiser of the event, said.

The event would not have been able to happen without the support of the sponsors, including main sponsor Angel Call Handling, a local award-winning telephone answering service in Andover, as well as A-Plan Insurance Andover, Parker Bullen Solicitors, Andover Patio Centre, The Commercial Centre, David Mellor Family Jewellers and Test Valley Borough Council.
