Are they lonesome this Christmas?

Elvis and his Elves Andover Radio David Wiltshire

There will be no ‘Return to Sender’ on the week running up to Christmas as Andover Radio has arranged for Elvis to deliver some special Christmas gifts to some special people in Andover.

Local man David Wiltshire has offered his Elvis stylings to work with the Love Andover Elves to distribute a variety of unique festive goodies to people who may be unlikely to have family visit on Christmas Day.

72-year old David is a huge Elvis fan and rarely turns down an opportunity to dress and perform as The King, or to help people in our local community.

Known as ‘Lovely Elvis Wiltshire from Hampshire’, the former builder with R Mouldings & Co, has agreed to put on his ‘Blue Suede Shoes’ and join the troupe of Andover Radio Elves to be a ‘Good Luck Charm’ to people in Andover who may face this Christmas alone.

Perhaps you know someone who would benefit from a socially-distanced ‘Special-D’ delivery of a festive hamper? You can nominate that person below.

Several times a day starting next Monday, Elvis and his Elves will be out with the Love Andover #LoveBus to distribute some special gifts to people in and around Andover. The popular local septuagenarian has agreed to serenade and supply people with ‘surprise’ gifts each day from Monday 21st December until Christmas Eve (Thursday).

“We already have a special list of special people who have relied on the Love Andover Isolation Help Group this year”, says Community and Events Manager Sarah Gisbourne. “We think that a personal appearance from Elvis and his Elves bearing gifts from our #LoveBus will really cheer them up”.

The #LoveBus and the Isolation Help Group are community projects, part-funded by the National Lottery and 95.9FM Andover Radio, with the aim of reducing social isolation.

“There are far too many people who will spend Christmas alone”, adds Sarah who runs Love Andover FamilyLife. “We want to give them a meticulously planned, but ultimately unexpected appearance from The King, along with a specially arranged bounty of lovely things ahead of Christmas Day.

Victoria Harber, organiser of the Love Andover Isolation Help Group says, “We already know a few people that would love a special treat ahead of Christmas. I know it would make their Christmas just to know that others are thinking of them.

“There must be others we can help put a smile on their face next week.”

Elvis on his Golden Wedding anniversary

In an effort to reduce the feeling of a ‘Blue Christmas’, if you know someone who – for whatever reason – is going be alone on Christmas Day – and would appreciate a little ‘we’re thinking of you’ hamper – please fill in the form, below.

Hamper contents will be specially prepared by arrangement, will be pre-agreed and will – of course – satisfy government guidelines and respect privacy, if required. Logistics mean not everyone nominated will receive gifts. Andover Radio will be in contact with those they are able to offer to visit.

Elvis and his Elves’ will be distributing the hampers from the Andover Radio #LoveBus between Monday 21st and Thursday 24th December to addresses in the Andover area.
