Competition success for Rookwood School

Amelie’s winning entries

Last term pupils took part in the Andover Rotary Club Photographic Competition. Amelie Bolam and Alexandra Booth in Year 7 were successful in the 11 – 13 age group, taking winner and runner up respectively.

The competition was open to pupils from local schools and this year’s theme was ‘A Different Perspective’. Entrants were required to produce a portfolio of three photographs based on this theme. Amelie’s entry focused on reflections and the way in which objects look different when reflected, while Alexandra’s series of photographs captured the beauty of sunlight on the sea in different conditions.

Art teacher, Miss Treasure, said “We are delighted that Amelie and Alexandra’s photography was recognised at the regional round of the Rotary Club Photographic Competition. There was some tough competition but Amelie’s portfolio was very different and really stood out.

The Arts are a cornerstone of life at Rookwood and we have a strong history of producing award-winning work. We are incredibly proud of Amelie and Alexandra for continuing this tradition.”

Amelie’s portfolio will now be forwarded to compete nationally.
