Harrow Way unveil new Student Leadership Team

Harrow Way Community School has unveiled its new Student Leadership Team for 2021/22.

The school received over 100 applications, more than half of the current Year 10, all seeking one of the 30 prefect positions. During a special assembly the school announced the successful applicants including Head Boy Dmitrijs Meiksans,   Head Girl Charley Kinghorn, Deputy Head Boys Charlie Chambers and Phoenix Jones and Deputy Head Girls Danni Gooden-Husbands and Jess Rist.

The prefect recruitment process is particularly rigorous at Harrow Way with interested students invited to express their interest before being shortlisted for interviews. Those applying for senior roles also gave a presentation and took part in a group discussion.

Commenting on the new Student Leadership Team, Dawn German, Assistant Headteacher said: “Senior prefects play an important and valuable role at Harrow Way. For those who are successful in meeting our rigorous criteria, the opportunity to take on a leadership position is great preparation for future responsibilities.

We were bowled over by the level of interest. The calibre of students’ answers and thoughtful arguments made the final decision process very difficult. However, we have created a strong senior prefect team which represent the very best of the year group and our school.”

All the new senior prefects started their posts on the first day after the half term break.
