Hat-Trick for New Street youth teams

The Andover New Street youth teams are in fine form as they racked up wins recently.

Local Derby Results in Victory for New Street’s U14s….

Tensions were running high on this cold first Saturday of December, as a depleted Andover New Street U14s side met their local rivals, Andover Town. Both sides were keen for a win but after an even opening ten minutes the deadlock was broken by some stellar football as the ball moved through the midfield, unlocking the Andover defence into Lenny who put Luke in on goal. Showing composure that Harry Kane would have been proud of, Luke slotted it past the oncoming goalkeeper to score New Street’s first goal.

The game continued in a highly competitive manner as you’d expect of a local derby with both teams giving 100%. Andover equalized on the half hour with some great play when their centre midfield gained space in the pocket between the Street lines and hit a superb shot from outside the box straight into the top corner.

The Street boys kept their heads up though and kept pushing, getting their reward on the stroke of half time with another ball through. This time it was Lenny who masterfully clipped the ball over the stranded keeper.

The second half starting much as the first with both teams giving everything, however, Street changed tactics, hitting the ball over the Andover defence for the pacey forwards to latch onto. This aggressive tactic worked as Street continued to control the game with their impressive new signing Cezary running with the ball in midfield to find the forwards at any opportunity. With time slipping away it was only natural for Andover to throw caution to the wind in an attempt to get the equalizer. They pushed hard but were met by the solid wall of the Street defence. Kenzie stayed on the Andover danger man, giving him limited opportunity to get to the Street goal.

A few chances for Andover to test the mettle of the Street goalie Dom were turned away by his quick decision making and position. In the end Street held on for a hard fought, well-deserved win against a formidable Andover side.

U10 Blacks

U10 Blacks meet Gosport in the Plate

Despite the freezing wind and cold the team fought their socks off and at half time the score was still deadlocked at 0-0 – this was not going to be an easy game!

Second half saw Rubie skilfully take the ball from them, making her way through a number of their players to put in an impressive goal taking Street ahead.

There was plenty of action in midfield with the Street defence working hard to break up any attack from the battling Gosport. But their hard work paid off as an assist by Rubie set Tayia up for another goal.

Gosport proved a worthy adversary but the girls fought hard to come away with the win.

U10 Green

U10 Greens meet the mighty Stoneham Pumas

A squad of 12 meant the Street girls had plenty of subs and rotation to keep the Pumas on their toes. A tough game with excellent performances from both teams, but Street managed to come away with their 4th win and 4th clean sheet – well done girls!
