There are so many success stories to come out of Andover New Street that are proud to shout about. Alongside the adults and the youth teams they also have ‘Streets Ahead’ which is an inclusive group for people with special needs who cannot join a mainstream club.
Any age or ability is very welcome! Streets Ahead is a member of the Hampshire Disability League and pre-covid had three adult teams playing in it.
Love it or loathe it football is our national sport and at Andover New Street they believe everyone who wants to then should be able to take part in the beautiful game.
It was the end of an era at this years end of season presentation for Sue Simmonds who is stepping down from her Streets Ahead Club Secretary role after an incredible 15 years! Sue was there right from the beginning and helped set up this group and fantastic opportunity for Andover.
Alongside Sue at the presentation was Dominic Calvert who coached the group since the start but stepped down two years ago. Due to Covid they had not been able to show all their appreciation for all Dominic had done for Streets ahead. Now with Sue stepping down they wanted to share their sincere thanks for both their hard work and dedication and the presentation was the perfect opportunity for this. They are extremely grateful for all they have done, and they look forward to continuing with a successful future for Streets Ahead.
Sessions for Streets Ahead are going to restart in September so for more information on how to join contact Lynda Richmond on 07905 040979 or via lyndarichmond@hotmail.co.uk
