Icknield School in Andover is set be remodelled after approval was given, by Hampshire County Council, to progress design work and open a public consultation.
The County Council is proposing to invest up to £2.5 million to make significant improvements to the school’s learning environment through remodelling, refurbishment and a small expansion. This will also allow the school to expand its capacity to admit up to 10 additional pupils from September 2022.
In agreeing the recommendations on (11 November 2020), the County Council’s Executive Lead Member for Children’s Services and Young People, Councillor Patricia Stallard, said: “Schools like Icknield Special School are vital to support our children and young people with complex learning and physical needs. This is why we are keen to invest in improvements that will ensure the school maintains a high quality learning environment for its pupils.”
The consultation on a proposal to enlarge the school by 10 places launched on the 13 November 2020. This will also provide an opportunity for the County Council to share its plans in more detail with the school community.
Parents, governors and other local stakeholders will be encouraged to contribute their views. As part of the consultation process, there will also be a virtual drop-in when appointments can be made to speak directly to County Council officers.
