Local Radio Day 2019

Local Radio Day is a celebration of how local radio benefits its local area.

95.9FM Andover Radio is a helping lead the annual event, which is this Friday (24th May 2019).

On Friday the town’s local radio station will be celebrating the connection between local businesses and their potential customers using radio – and its associated online and social media platforms.

The radio station’s DJs will also be out and about delivering Love Andover cupcakes to local companies, courtesy of The Travelling Cupcake in the upper High Street.

On-air, there will be link-ups with other local radio stations across the UK, including BBC local radio stations and other hyper-local ‘community’ radio stations.

Andover Radio director, Ben Tuffin says, “With over 14,000 people using our website each month and a weekly Facebook post reach of over 40,000, we love being able to share the positive publicity around this town’s great businesses, organisations and people.

“We have a special discount deal on offer for bona fide locally-owned businesses, too.”

Andover Radio is only one year old and will be hosting this year’s Andover Armed Forces Day on Saturday June 29th at Vigo Park.

The radio station has also recently provided free coverage for the annual Hatherden Fete, the Royal British Legion 75th anniversary D-Day celebrations and the growth of local companies like Salon 73, Options Flooring and local charity Unity.

Radio stations across the UK are encouraged to promote their work within their community socially by using the hashtag #LoveLocalRadio.
