Local Radio Sunshine-cakes

As part of the national Local Radio Day, the town’s radio station has been out and about in the sunshine

Teams from 95.9FM Andover Radio have been visiting local businesses to deliver specially crafted Love Andover cupcakes to thank them for their support of the year-old station.

Local Radio is organised by tbe Local Radio Association, and is designed to promote the benefits and celebrate the work of local radio stations – commercial, community and BBC – across the UK.

In many cases today the Andover Radio team were also congratulating businesses on winning recent awards. Salon 73 have enjoyed success in the Muddy Stilettos awards, once again winning Best Hair Salon.

Finkley Down Farm were winners of the Best Family Attraction award 2019.

The huge team of people at estate and letting agents Belvoir! also received a visit from the Andover Radio team. The company promotes a ‘Property of the Week’ on the radio station ever day, giving vendors an otherwise unavailable premium place to promote the sale of their property. They also host regular on-air ‘Property Clinics’ giving no-obligation advice to buyers and sellers.

The cupcakes were handmade by The Travelling Cupcake on the upper High Street and are cheering up offices and shops in Andover like Options Flooring, BP Rolls and David Mellor Family Jewellers as they continue to be distributed across the town.

Andover Radio director Ben Tuffin says, “Radio plays an important part in the connection between businesses and their customers in local areas and radio along with all its associated media platforms is often the driving force in making these connections.

Andover Radio runs Andover Armed Forces Day, social inclusion projects and hosts events like Truth, Dare Art at its Love Andover HQ high street offices.

Ben adds, “At Love Andover HQ we love our town and want as many people as possible to be aware of the massive range of products and services available.

Many of our town’s businesses are locally owned and managed by people who have many years experience as experts in their fields… And you can’t get that on a website.

“We love local, which is why we are proud to be a partner in today’s Local Radio Day.”

The team were also delivering posters to promote next month’s Andover Armed Forces Day. The event will be at Vigo Park and businesses who want to display a colourful A3 poster can request one by email here.

Event organisers are getting ready to announce two massive attractions for the event on Saturday June 29th.
