It’s been announced that local girl Maddison Douch will open this year’s Andover Rocks event.
The singer songwriter from Andover whose debut single ‘Two Worlds’ was an online hit is enjoying popularity with her most recent single ‘Too Young’, performed with Echotape lead singer Marc Burford.
Maddison will open the event at The Queen Charlotte Inn on Friday April 5th.
For the third successive year, this musical event in Andover is fundraising for music intervention in adult mental health.
The event will take place at numerous venues on Friday April 5th, Saturday April 6th and Sunday April 7th.
The event will be the subject of this coming Monday evening’s The Word on 95.9FM Andover Radio (from 8pm). Organiser Marie Ponting told the local radio station, “Since we started this as a little idea three years ago it has grown massively.
“Over 1,000 people have donated their time to make this the event it is today.”
The event will be hosted at seven venues in Andover including the White Hart Inn on Bridge Street, the Rockhouse on London Street and the Time Ring in the High Street.
Wristbands for the event are now available to purchase from Stringbrokers on the High Street, the White Hart on Bridge Street and the Rockhouse on London Street. Wristbands are £10 each for adults and £5 for children. The wristbands gain you entry to each of the sessions, although workshops must be pre-booked.
The range of activities now include more than just live music, “There are children’s workshops, Belly Dancing lessons and a Gong Bath“, says Marie. “A Gong Bath is where you can zone-out and immerse yourself in an intense sense of letting go, thanks to the build-up of sound around you.”
The event opens at the Queen Charlotte Inn on London Road, with an acoustic set, hosted by Alex Krupa and featuring Maddison was well as upcoming artist Jenny Bracey, Lizzie Cullen and Ben Williams.
Marie says, “The workshops we have will need to be pre-booked as we expect demand to be high, so if you want to try our your DJ skills or have a go at Belly Dancing, please contact us through our Facebook page.”
