A triple bill of Summertime Sunday vintage markets will be coming to Andover, with the first market taking place on Sunday 9th June from 11 am – 5 pm.

Bert and Gert’s Vintage Markets will be bringing an eclectic mix of arts, crafts and all things vintage to Andover High Street. With everything from jewellery to glassware, memorabilia to vintage clothing and cupcakes to hampers, around 30 stalls will take to the High Street. A blend of Jazz and Blues music with a dash of Skiffle for good measure will be provided by local band The Frenzied and The Diligent in the Time Ring. A range of refreshments including a traditional hog roast will also be available.

If you love your first visit to Bert & Gert’s market there will be two more opportunities to enjoy the experience on 14 July and 11 August. So make a date in your diary and come and join the fun! For any local traders interested in having a stall at this or future events, contact hwhittam@testvalley.gov.uk for more information.

The vintage markets offer something a little bit different to tempt the people of Test Valley, and complement the mixed programme of High Street events on offer in Andover throughout 2013.

Councillor Ian Carr, Leader of the Council said: “I am delighted to see yet another market being attracted to the town as a result of the work of the Council’s events working group, which resulted from the priorities agreed at the Andover Summit. It is events such as these supported by live music which will add vibrancy to the High Street. Markets provide a much needed boost at a time when shopping habits are changing and the economic downturn is having such a marked effect on town centres up and down the country.

The programme has been brought together by the Council’s High Street Events working group which was created as a result of the Andover Summit. The group aims to encourage a wider variety and number of events and activities to draw people to the town centre.
