Leading disability charity Enham Trust is celebrating after receiving its second consecutive Good rating in its latest OFSTED inspection.
The inspection that took place on the 6th and 7th March found that since the previous inspection the Trust has continued to provide a consistently good quality of education for learners, and has secured improvements in many areas.
The inspector commented, ‘Pastoral and welfare support for learners is particularly strong. They benefit from excellent care from their tutors, which they value highly. Learners trust their tutors and will seek their help with a wide range of personal, emotional, welfare and safeguarding concerns’.
The Skills2Acheive programme from Enham Trust has various centres in Hampshire including Basingstoke, Southampton, Portsmouth and Eastleigh and supports disadvantaged and disabled young people aged 16-19 to give them the skills, knowledge and values to improve their quality of life and place them in a better position to find work. Support focuses around English and Maths qualifications, work experience, soft skills and personal development with the aim of supporting learners to re-enter education, training or to gain employment.
The quality of teaching was highlighted in the report which states ‘well trained teachers weave careers advice and guidance into the delivery of many sessions, and learners fully focus on what they will do next, following completion of their programme at Enham Trust. Teachers work closely with young people and, where appropriate, with their key workers to identify their aspirations and provide effective guidance to help them achieve these’.

During 2016/17 the Skills2Acheive programme helped 200 young people to achieve job outcomes or progress in education with 79.5% of learners on the programme achieving qualification success (an improvement of 12.5% on the previous academic year). Additionally, 77% of learners progressed to employment, further training or apprenticeships.
