Ping £50 from us to your favourite charity

One of Andover Radio’s directors has created a simple way for YOU to get £50 for your favourite local charity.

#ChallengeBen is a ping-pong tournament where people from Andover are asked to register their interest to try and win £50 for their nominated charity.

Ben Tuffin is Love Andover’s (internal) undisputed champion of the ‘wiff-waff’ table, but has now challenged other players – while adhering to socially distance rules – to beat him and win money for charity.

The director of Andover Radio and free local newspaper the Love Andover Observer is goading people to get in contact who think they could win a small tournament against him – if they win, they get an immediate £50 cheque payable to their favourite local charity.

“Bring it on”, says Ben who is unnecessarily confident of his own success. “We know local charities have had it hard, because they haven’t been able to get out and host events because of Covid-19.

“At Love Andover HQ we always try and make sure we have fun in amongst the hard work. It’s important people enjoy their work. So I thought, why not make this something that benefits to our non-profit companies”.

Ben who heads up the Love Andover Observer operation from the company’s high street HQ adds, “We are constantly finding interesting and creative ways to raise money for our brilliant local causes like the Jamie G Sporting Trust, the Andover Shooters under-15s football team and the Andover Fibromyalgia and ME Community Group… as well as Jordan Wylie’s chosen charity, Frontline Children.

“In fact, one of the reasons I lay this challenge down now is because I know Jordan isn’t around. He’d beat me. But as he’s stand-up paddle boarding in the Irish Sea, he’s too far away to take up my challenge.

“I’d be happy if he sent a substitute. You ain’t gonna be as good as Jordan, though.”

Ben’s challenge is made to help registered charities and bona fide non-profit efforts around the Andover (Hampshire, UK) area who have lost income because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Full terms and conditions of the #ChallengeBen fundraising opportunity are available on application to ben@loveandover.com.
