#savethejunction Petition gains traction

Young people from Andover’s Foyer Drop in centre on Junction Road have rallied to collect signatures to prevent the facility from closing.

Over 300 signatures were collected within an hour by five service users of ‘The Junction’ who fear Hampshire County Council’s plan to remove their £56,000 funding will lock the doors on the community asset for the final time.

Assisting the young people in collecting signatures, Andover councillor Richard Rowles says, “This is a ridiculous situation, the County Council simply haven’t thought of the knock-on effects and costs that this will cause by ending a relatively low financial commitment to such an important town asset”.

An online petition was started by a community group in Andover earlier this week and can be signed by clicking here.

Love Andover has experienced a huge uplift in social support with over 15,000 unique views of content available on Facebook alone.

Current and former users of The Junction will be in Andover High Street next Saturday (February 4th) to collect further signatures.

The petition will be presented to Hampshire County Council in the coming weeks.
