As Andover College prepares to open its doors for the first of the 2017 Open Evenings this Thursday from 4.30pm, it is urging potential students and parents to recognise the success stories behind the headline figures when considering their further education choices.

Andover College continues to celebrate their best ever results last year with 100% of students passing their A Levels, the College also topped the ‘value added’ league tables too. For first year (AS) A Level students the College was in the top 10% in the entire country for value added and for second year A Level students they were in the top 25%.

Principal Tim Jackson explains the significance of these figures: “Value added is a measure of the degree to which students not only fulfil, but achieve grades beyond their original potential. It is a valuable tool to evaluate the quality of a college’s teaching and learning as it recognises that students will have different starting points, the proportion of these students will vary between colleges, and an outstanding college will enable students to succeed beyond their initial expectations.

“It demonstrates that, not only do our students achieve outstanding results, they also make phenomenal progress during their time here due to the excellent teaching team. This reinforces the ‘Andover College Guarantee’ – our promise to support each and every student to do the very best they can”.

To find out more about the College’s huge range of A Level, professional and technical courses and Apprenticeships, please register for the open evening on Thursday 2 February 2017, 4.30pm to 7.30pm at www.andover.ac.uk/opendays
