The Test Valley’s community transport organisation is seeking volunteer drivers in the Andover, Stockbridge and Romsey areas.
Unity Transport runs the service across the Test Valley which helps isolated, vulnerable and disabled people to access local amenities.
The community charity is seeking people to volunteer their services to help people get around the borough.
Last year, using their fleet of accessible vehicles, they provided over 9,000 passenger trips through their Dial-A-Ride Service.
Unity drivers can get a lot of positive, enriching experiences from volunteering, as Sam Otter has previously explained to Love Andover. He said, “I see a lot of enjoyment, a lot of happiness and don’t see my passengers as particularly vulnerable, they use our organisations that Unity supports and that helps give an opportunity to talk, compare their pill regime and generally just have fun.
“Now, in my own life, I get a lot of structure, enjoyment and entertainment. And you can’t beat that.”
Unity have also hired their minibuses to 116 different local groups.
Unity CEO Terry Bishop said, “Without these services many people particularly in our rural communities would be unable to leave their homes.
“As a charity we are always seeking volunteer drivers to help us provide these services. If someone can provide the time, we’ll provide the training – and some great days out”.
