Wherwell School Fete 2019 announced

The PTA at Wherwell Primary School  on Longparish Rd are proud to announce this year’s Summer Fete.

The Parent Teacher’s Association at the school  hope you can join them for an afternoon of family fun at the Wherwell School Fete which is held on the School’s playing field on the 19th May from 12pm-3pm.

The Fete is the School’s major fundraiser of the year and monies raised are used to make up the shortfall in their “ever diminishing budget“.

A spokesperson told Andover Radio, “Funds raised at last year’s fete have been used to update IT equipment, purchase library books and dictionaries, provide maths aids, sporting kits and replace outdoor play equipment – without the Fete this just would not have been possible.”

All the usual popular attractions will be on site, including kids games, face painting, bouncy castle, book stall, bottle tombola and plant stall.

Hardy’s Nursery, Market for all Seasons, Hilliers Garden Centre and the Hairy Pot Co have all kindly donated to the plant stall so arrive early to snap up a beautiful bargain for your garden.

There will be live swing, blues and jazz music from Add Hoc followed by enthusiastic country dancing and maypole performances by the children.

Their Grand Raffle this year has over twenty prizes which have been generously donated by local companies including JoCo Hampers, Wyevale Garden Centre, Riverside  Bowl, Chilbolton Village Stores, The Abbotts Mitre, The Clos du Marquis, Snow Biz, Andover Lawn Tennis Club, Merityre, Beauty Treats, Hildon Water, Danebury Vineyards, Hero, Finkley Down Farm, The Spitfire Shoot, Andover Golf Club and more.

Tickets are just £1 each and are available from Chilbolton Village Stores.

Mouth watering refreshments will be available at our BBQ & Pimms Bar run by local restaurant the Clos du Marquis, as well as plenty of home made cakes, ice cream, teas and coffee.

The PTA say, “The theme for this years Fete is ‘Protecting the Environment’ and we are hoping to use some of the funds raised on the day to purchase an anaerobic digester for the school which would recycle all our food waste for years to come.”

They add, “With the recent worrying news of the proposal to build a large waste incinerator just three miles from our school we feel that taking responsibility for our waste is a timely and important message to be teaching our children from an early age.”

“We would like to say a huge thank you to all the local businesses who have supported the Fete, with special thanks to Winchester Auto Barn, Graham & Co and Wherwell Estates for their generous donations to help with the overheads.

Please come along to the Fete on the 19th May, enjoy the day and help us put the ‘fun’ back into Fundraising.”

Entry is £1 and kids can attend for free. (But, they apologise, sorry, no dogs).
