Andover Shooters FC 2020

SHOOTERS FC 5 – 2 SOUTH WONSTON SWIFTS

BY REPORTER: TOM GREENWOOD

Saturday 19th September saw Shooters FC Under 15s come away with a home win against South Wonston Swifts.

Wearing their new kit from shirt sponsors Andover Radio, the squad made a quick start to a well contested game with Freddie Randall opening the scoring with a composed finish on 7 minutes.

3 minutes later South Wonston were on level terms and then took the lead on 21 minutes with a very well taken goal, just beyond the reach of out-stretched goalkeeper Eben Bircham.  However, South Wonston’s lead only lasted 5 minutes when debutant Callum McDonnell found the top corner with a 25 yard strike with his left foot.

HALFTIME 2 – 2

Shooters started the second half as quick as the first when just 5 minutes in Noah May scored a wonder goal from 25 yards.  Shooters never looked back with McDonnell and May both adding to their goal tally.

The game at Wherwell playing fields ended with Shooters 5-2 winners with Max Bailey picking up ‘Player of the Match’ because of his fine defensive performance.

Shooters’ next game is an away encounter with Bishops Waltham on Saturday 26th September.
