Andover had a visit from a Tornado at 9:45am today (Tuesday 17th September) in the shape of a steam locomotive on a trip from London to Salisbury.
The A1 Tornado was first steamed in 2008, after a 19 year project to fund and build it and viewers of Top Gear may remember it in a race between it, a Vincent Black Shadow motorbike and a Jaguar XK120 to the North of England (link to Top Gear site).
The visit was organised by Steam Dreams / Cathedrals Express – the brainchild of steam train enthusiast Marcus Robertson whose mother wrote the Wombles.
