More event support from local radio station

Andover’s local radio station has increased its commitment to supporting local events.

Sarah Gisbourne has been promoted to Events Coordinator at 95.9FM Andover Radio and has welcomed David Wybrow as the “Voice of ‘What’s On'”.

Since the beginning of the year, Andover Radio has broadcast from fifty local events including the Andover Cycling Festival, the Festival of Motoring and the Andover Triathlon. Connected with Love Andover’s digital platforms, event publicity reaches an average of 14,000 people in Andover each week.

“There are hundreds of events around Andover every month” says Sarah, “Here at Love Andover HQ, we are committed to promoting what’s happening around town to local listeners and web users.”

Bubbly and friendly Sarah has been part of the team since the radio station launched in April last year, setting up Love Andover FamilyLife which promotes specific activities and events for families and young people in Andover.

“We are now receiving more than ten enquiries a day from people wanting us to promote their event,” says station director David Harber. “This is a great problem to have, but the team was not big enough to manage all the enquiries. We needed not only a more ‘joined-up approach’ to giving publicity to non-profit events and those which are profit making, we needed the right people. David and Sarah were the natural choice.

Sarah is really well-known in the town and has a natural flair for knowing what’s happening around town – and the people behind the events.

“David Wybrow is committed, meticulous and like Sarah is such a delight to have around at the studios”.

As well as on-air and online event publicity, Andover Radio can also supply staging, marquees and gazebos, loud speaker PA equipment and hosts. Branded events are also able save money by making use of the radio station’s event-specific Public Liability Insurance.

Sarah who has lived in Andover ‘forever’ says, “I love Andover and all that it has to offer. I am really pleased to have a more involved role at Love Andover. And I get my own desk!”

If you have a local event, you are welcome to meet Sarah any Tuesday between 10am and 2pm when she will be able to talk about your event requirements.

Sarah adds, “I love being part of the Love Andover crew and am delighted to be adding to my role as part of the team.

“Andover has always been my home and I love its community feel , I’m looking forward to finding out about all the events that take place in our town and sharing them with you online and on-air.

“The Love Andover team is made up of local people, all of whom are passionate about what Andover has to offer.”
