Andover Swimming and Water Polo Club were back in the pool  competing in their club time trials.

This event was open to all swimmers who are part of the Andover Swimming and Water Polo Club and provided them with the opportunity to race for a time and provide them with the experience ahead of any galas and competitions that are coming up in the future.

For some, this was the first time in the pool for this type of event as well as some of the more experienced swimmers taking part in new events for the first time. The evening helped build team morale as well as boost confidence in the pool.

For the first time, the club had over 90 swimmers taking part in an action packed evening that saw a number of personal bests achieved.

Head Coach, Scott Buchan said “what a great evening the time trials were, lots of swimmers taking part in events that has allowed them to see all the hard work and effort they put into training pay off.

Many PBs were achieved and it was great to see swimmers attempting new events. It was also fantastic to see many of our new members taking part in this event and handling themselves so well.” Scott Buchan said “he was proud of all the swimmers and is looking forward to future events organised by the club to see the progress the swimmers are making”

The evening couldn’t have taken place without the volunteers who helped out during the evening. Members of the Club Committee and also parents were on hand to help out with timing events, organising swimmers and handing out refreshments. They all played their part and made sure that the evening was fun and enjoyable for all.

Jon Lee, the Club’s Chairperson said, “it was fantastic to see so many superb swims with numerous personal bests. A massive thank you to all those who took part and to the officials and helpers who made the evening a huge success”.

Talking to one swimmer, when asked what she thought of the evening commented that “attending the time trials is a great way to get to know other people in the club and support the younger swimmers who have just started. It’s also good way for us to improve our times ready for other competitions”.

The club would welcome any new swimmers to join and should look at the website for more information www.andoverswimming.co.uk about the requirements needed to join the squad.
