Andover Swimming and Water Polo Club’s newly formed junior water polo team registered a brilliant victory in their first ever match.
The juniors defeated Winchester Water Polo Club 14-4 in Winchester.
Andover started off the match tentatively, finding themselves 1-3 down after the first quarter.
However, they discovered their confidence during the second quarter with some impressive attacking drives and shots on target to finish the quarter two goals up.
Strong defensive play and solid goalkeeping, combined with fast counterattacks saw the young Andover side go up by seven goals with one quarter remaining.
Further confident play during the fourth quarter led to a final score line of 14-4 to Andover.
Coach Katy Ross said: “I am incredibly proud of every single one of my players. To be able to come back from two goals down after the first quarter and then play with such confidence to turn the game around and win by 10 goals in their first match is fantastic. Lots to work on and develop for this inexperienced side but what a great start!”
