An elderly woman – believed to be an 86 year old from Andover – has died after drowning in the sea at Alum Chine on Thursday 5th September.
She was apparently spotted in the water at around 2.30pm and despite efforts by people on the beach, lifeguards and paramedics, she later died. Formal identification has yet to take place and an inquest is likely to be opened next week.
Alum Chine Beach in Bournemouth is a Blue Flag Award beach and is very popular with families.
