Andover’s Window Wanderland weekend

This weekend local Andover families experienced a little magic with a family walk to spot all the window makers who took part in the Andover’s Window Wanderland event.

Throughout October and November, residents and businesses were encouraged to register as window makers to create magical, winter displays in their windows ready for the weekend of the 28 and 29 November. Together these windows formed a wonderful winter walking trail, which passers-by enjoyed.

Over 100 windows are registered in Andover, with over 20 of those being local businesses including Andover Radio, Andover Library , Andover Museum , C & M DIY , Alex McGarry Art , Janet Mary Floral Designs , The Lights and The Travelling Cupcake in the town centre. Further afield people can enjoy windows at YMCA Augusta Park, St Paul ’ s Church of England at Knights Enham and Egg Day Nursery at Picket Twenty, all in addition to the residential windows taking part.

Local companies, Lee Filters and Fusion Office Supplies kindly supported the initiative by donating materials, which the council made into packs and delivered to workshop participants during lockdown.

Leader of Test Valley Borough Council, Councillor Phil North, said: “The Window Wanderland project has been a fantastic way of bringing together businesses, families and communities with one goal in mind, to share creative fun and bring the festive spirit to Andover.”

This was an informal trail with no start or end point, so families could take part where and when they wanted in a socially distanced and safe way, and enjoy a stroll in the fresh air at the same time.

Here are some of the windows that we enjoyed discovering during the weekend.
