After 3 months closed, local village pub The Crown Inn at Upton reopens today at 4:30pm after a transitional period.
The pub nestled in the heart of Test Valley is one of two pubs in Hampshire to be awarded the prestigious Bib Gourmand award. The award is given out to restaurants which off ‘exceptionally good food at moderate prices’. Chef director Lewis Spreadbury says “We are very honoured to be included in that guide, it’s a guide with lots of history”.
On the reopening Lewis says “We’re a good local pub, offering decent honest food, slight change to what we once were, we feel in the recent months there is a big gap for casual affordable dining, still taken seriously and still done well but just a different approach”.
The pub will be open Wednesday – Friday 4:30pm – close, and open all day on Saturdays and Sundays. The Crown will be servicing breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays. Sundays they will be serving Sunday roast. It has a lovely log fire, pool table and table tennis. Quiz nights are being organised as well.
Lewis and his partner Amanda J’Bair, who he runs the pub with also run their own catering company, want the pub to become the hub of the community and have exciting plans for future events.
They will be at the Amport village fete on the 6th and 7th of July, serving their famous burgers.
