We understand from multiple sources that Andover employer Be Wiser insurance has been sold.

A spokesperson for Certus Communications who are managing the insurance broker’s press and public information said, “We never comment on market rumour or speculation”, following up with “We cannot give any more information at this time”.

With almost 300 jobs at risk, we understand 60 redundancies may be in the process of being discussed.

A buyer is unknown at this time. It is anticipated that a formal announcement will be made on 1st May 2021.

Be Wiser is one of Andover’s biggest national brand names, at the beginning of 2021 the company employed around 280 people.

The company announced a ‘staff reorganisation’ exercise in February this year. CEO Jeff Brinley had previously said, “We need to reconfigure Be Wiser…

“It’s never easy to take these difficult decisions that impact on our people.

“We will do everything we can to support those affected, including redeployment where that’s possible.”

More will follow.
