The Hampshire Development meet took place over the last two weekends at Winchester that saw teams of swimmers from all over the county race against each other.
Swimmers aged 10-14 were in action and Andover took 40 swimmers to the event.
The first weekend saw PBs for the majority of swimmers with many taking to the pool competing for the first time. The Hampshire Development meeting is a fantastic opportunity for young swimmers to gain experience in a competitive environment and build on what they have learnt in training sessions.
Last weekend the team were hungry for more medals and the club had silver medal success in the 11-11 mixed freestyle relay event that saw Jess Cumpstey, Summer Marvin, Evie Campbell beat the majority of the larger squads that were also in attendance.
One of the team also took part in the 200m breaststroke and achieved a gold medal and beating his competitors by a whopping 15 seconds.
Summer Marvin and Isabella Whatley we’re in action taking part in the 200m backstroke and 200m breaststroke respectively and both bringing gold medals home.
Matvii Goncharenko who has recently joined the squad walked away with 5 medals and some new club records too, a truly impressive performance.
Scott Buchan, Head Coach said “It was an action packed two weekends with some incredible results for the team and individuals. The swimmers have improved massively and there are some areas that we can focus on at training sessions to allow us to perform even better at future events”.
The team were recently awarded a grant from Persimmon Homes Community Grant which has allowed the club to purchase new swim hats and kit for all swimmers.
The club are looking for new swimmers to come and join the squad, if your child is interested in joining please contact us on email@example.com
