Evita is coming to The Lights, thanks to the Andover Musical Theatre Company.
Hot on the heels of the Starlight’s run of Sister Act, comes the adult company’s performance of Evita. The classical piece of musical theatre will start its four night run on 13th November 2019.
The tale of the rise and fall of Argentina’s First Lady, Eva Perón, will be performed by Andover Musical Theatre Company, this November. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s classic rock-opera will take audiences on a musical trip through the elusive, glamorous and sometimes questionable life of Eva, played by Jane Hindley.
In 1952, Argentina, a crowd watches a film interrupted with the breaking news: The First Lady, Eva Perón, is dead. The crowd and the nation go into mourning as Ché, a member of the public, observes the happenings.
Jane’s portrayal of the historical figure is second to none and the range in which the character sings is undisputedly one of the most difficult in musical theatre; from rock to opera, within seconds. Jane is sure to blow audiences away with her incredible performance as the Argentinian heroine.
Juan Perón will be played by David Hall and Ché by Jonathan Baron, both male leads are exceptionally charismatic and tell the tale of Eva’s demise through the medium of Tim Rice’s beautiful lyrics and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s incredible score. Juan from the heart of her story and Ché, the periphery.
Director, Carol Robinson, said of the show and creative process, “The cast are working so hard on this show and it really demonstrates the level of talent we have within the company. The songs are emotional and evocative and the cast are portraying Eva’s story with passion and truth.”
The story of the controversial, yet ambitious, political leader is certain to have audiences’ laughing, crying and completely immersed in the theatrical experience. With classic songs such as Don’t Cry For Me, Argentina and Oh, What A Circus, the production is sure to be the hottest show in town.
