There’s ‘Unity’ in crowdfunding opportunities

Unity Crowdfunding

A recent event showed Andover’s non-profit organisations how to benefit best from crowdfunding sites.

Chuffed, a national Crowdfunding organisation, ran workshops for charities and community groups at Rothsay Grange on behalf of leading local community organisation Unity recently.

The care home hosted the event free of charge for eighteen organisations from across the Test Valley as well as major housing provider from Basingstoke.

Those who attended found out how their organisations could benefit from using the crowdfunding platform to raise funds through their own networks.

A lively, interactive morning took place with a range of groups including NHS Army Welfare, MIND, Friend of the Family, Chat Together and Jane Scarth House.

Event organisers Unity are the local community volunteer service, which provides practical and financial assistance and services for non-profit organisations and charities in the area. The organisation, previously called Test Valley Community Services, also supplies minibus hire, mobility scooters and training services.

Practical tips were provided on subjects specific to each such seeking funding for example, Rescue Dogs finding young adults suffering mental health breakdown or support for ex service users to attend events to help support their recovery.

Unity Voluntary Sector Support Manager, Christianne Ireland, said, “This was the best workshop I have ever been to and the feedback from the other participants has been excellent.

Thanks must go to Carl from Crowdfunding who was a natural communicator and had a way of bringing everyone with him.  What a fantastic morning.”
