Hundreds of unemployed Andover people are set to benefit from the launch of a successful national employment initiative in the town.
The team at The Lighthouse Andover, have undergone specialist training to launch a Job Club that offers support and practical advice to unemployed people.
Bella Mezger, the Job Club Manager, said: “ We really wanted to make a practical contribution to the community and we thought that running a Job Club was one of the best ways. Everyone who comes on the course, whether you ‘ve been out of work for a while or maybe you want to change jobs but aren’ t sure how to start – this course is for you.“
She added that the The Lighthouse’s Job Club is one of around 160 in the UK that help hundreds of people find work each year. The eight-week course provides jobseekers with essential skills, such as CV and application writing, and interview techniques. At the heart of the course is a supportive peer-to-peer group where course members can share their experiences, struggles and advice. In addition, each is given one-to-one coaching to develop their strengths and identify other opportunities, such as volunteering or additional training.
Bella, previously a management consultant said: “Our job club is a warm, friendly and relaxed environment. Let us help you take your first steps into employment and a job you’ ll enjoy.”
The free club will run weekly starting from 21st April at 10-11:30am at St Mary’s Church Centre, Marlborough Street, Andover, SP10 1ER.
